The scope of services offered includes materials identification, evaluation and basic testing through complete failure analysis employing techniques such as scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction. Professional expertise is available to conduct appropriate testing and evaluation as well as to communicate results and professional opinions in an easily understood and useful manner.

The scope of evaluations performed by Affiliated Engineering Laboratories, Inc. covers materials which include, but are not limited to, the following:

These materials may typically be found as materials of construction in
machinery, jet engines, boilers and pressure vessels, automotive applications, construction equipment, etc. Testing to evaluate the present condition and/or cause of a material failure can be provided through appropriate use of one of the following:

Macroscopic examination and photography
Microscopic examination and photography
Mechanical property testing (strength, hardness, impact resistance,
fatigue, etc.)
